Have you ever felt stuck, even when you’re trying to grow? Sometimes we picture the lifestyle we want for our future, but it looks nothing like the lifestyle we’re living now. That gap can feel frustrating and quite frankly even embarrassing, because it forces us to admit that maybe we’re not pushing hard enough, or maybe we’re staying stagnant in life. But here’s the truth…growth is never linear, and stagnation in life is just part of the process. What matters is noticing it, reflecting, and adjusting along the way. So let’s start there, shall we?

Acknowledging Stagnation & The Role of Environment
When I started this journey, I wanted a record of what I was doing, a kind of journal I could look back on. Do you know what I discovered? That it’s surprisingly easy to stay stagnant. 🤦♀️
Many of us don’t want to acknowledge that truth because it feels like failure. But it isn’t. It’s a checkpoint. A chance to reconsider what’s working, what isn’t, and how to adapt. Growth requires both consistency and reevaluation. Ya dig?
One lesson I keep coming back to: your environment matters…
…like, SO MUCH.
Right now, I’m fresh out of the waitressing field, the same job I had since high school and through college. There’s nothing wrong with that as it still provides for my family and keeps me moving. (Hooray for burning calories and making moolah at the same time).💸 But it didn’t align with the environment I craved. I wanted one that felt refreshing, emotionally alive, and connected with nature.
Sometimes the lifestyle we think we want doesn’t actually support the version of ourselves we’re trying to grow into. Heck, sometimes we don’t even know what we want until it slaps us in the face. So I’m here to remind you that changing your surroundings can be just as important as changing your habits.

Balancing Growth & Redefining Your Lifestyle on Your Own Terms
Another piece of the puzzle: the people around us. Yup.
Creating a lifestyle that works for you doesn’t always work for those closest to you. Your partner might have a different schedule, different goals, or different motivations. That doesn’t mean you can’t grow together. It just means growth is a balance of individual and shared progress.
I’ve learned that as I grow individually, my relationship shifts too. Our roots tangle, our rhythms adjust. And over time, those changes help us build a stronger foundation together. 👫
It’s tempting to rush the process of “becoming your best self.” But the truth is, most of us won’t figure it out right away anyhow. We have to fail forward, try new opportunities, and learn by trial and error.
Work is part of that process. Yes, for income, but also for purpose, momentum, and learning. Without something to build on, we risk falling apart mentally, physically, and emotionally. And that’s no bueno, friends.
The lifestyle you want isn’t going to be built overnight. It’s shaped through the environments you choose, the habits you create, and the adjustments you’re willing to make when things feel off.

Moving Toward Fulfillment
As I plan new chapters of my life with my husband, I realize change is opening up opportunities…for healthier meals, more time with pets, better routines, and eventually time with kids. (coming soon. 😉)
And yes, I sometimes wish I had all of this figured out sooner. But I also believe that timing matters. I might not have been ready before. I may not have known yet which path to take.
So if you’re in the thick of figuring it out too, you’re not alone. This post is a reminder that the process takes time. It takes reevaluation. And it takes courage to admit when your environment or habits don’t align with the life you want. 🫶

When we finally begin creating a lifestyle that supports our best selves, that’s when we feel most fulfilled, and ready to step onto the path we’re truly meant for. 💜
What’s one small change in your environment you can make this week that will move you closer to the lifestyle you want?
